High On The Hog - Print
High On The Hog is one of many drawings I created for The Wall Street Journal over a period of 20 years. This particular piece accompanied an article about how Harley-Davidson was dealing with its shrinking customer base. As the demographic of people who had supported and purchased their motorcycles for years grew older, Harley-Davidson needed to find a way to capture a younger audience of buyers, and fast!
Deadlines were always tight with the large news publications, but this idea came to me almost immediately. Harley-Davidson's stock was in trouble at the time, so pairing that fact with elderly riders who clearly shouldn't be on a motorcycle seemed to land in my lap. This image was created on an illustration board with pen, ink, and watercolor.
